The Struggles Of A Long Distance Relationship

So this is a completely new post for me that I will be writing today but there are some things I'm wanting to get off my chest and I thought writing it in a post would help me a lot and maybe help some of you out there that are struggling with long distance relationship too.

So most of you might already know if you follow me on social media that my partner is born and raised from the United States I met Joey through one of my best friends two years ago now (Can't believe how fast the time has gone!) Joey flew over from the states to visit myself and my friend and we just had a spark when he first  came over he was here for just over a month and things were going so great that he invited me back to the United States with him and I stayed and traveled with him for three months.

But enough on how we met what I want to talk about is the struggles I'm dealing with at the moment with a long distance relationship, myself and Joey have been together for over 2 years now and have been engaged for a year now in that time Joey has come over to me four time for me and I have been over once (due to fear of flying and working full time) But recently this time of Joey having to return home this has been the longest we have been apart from one another and its hard! it's very hard on both of us. He left in April 2018 and will be returning November 2018 which has been seven months.

Even though we talk every day the time difference can be hard work especially with working when he wakes up and then when it's evening for myself its the time for him to go to work. So with me suffering from anxiety, it's a lot harder for me.

I'm always worried about how he is doing or what he's up to and I'm always wanting to talk to him but I know he has things to do while he's at home and I have things to do as well but when we do get a chance to talk I never want it to end I won't lie we have had a few fights while he has been away and it's upset the both of us and almost made us both split up altogether but we stayed strong. Because we know even though we flight we both love each other and we want to be together.

I know it sounds like I'm being a big baby right now but being in a long distance relationship is very hard for me. But I always have to say to myself we will be together soon, and meaning that I am moving over the United States to be with him. We're in the current stage of getting my visa sorted and all I need to do now is have my main interview then I'm free to go over and be with the man I love.

From the amount of time we have been apart I have learned a lot about a long distance relationship and I want to share with you all as well if your reading this and your struggling with one also.

1) Avoid excessive communication.
You don't need to talk to each other 12 hours a day to keep the relationship going. Remember less is more its not about spamming message after message and worry when they don't reply within minutes. (Like me)  From this, I learned even though we don't talk as much as I like I know he's always there for me and he calls me when he wakes up and before I sleep and I do the same thing.

2) See it as an opportunity.
While he's been gone I've been able to focus more on my blog which I'm so happy about and that's what you need to do take the time to enjoy any hobbies you love while your both away from each other.

3) Try to communicate regularly, and creatively
Send each other "Good morning" and "Goodnight" messages every day this a must on my list so he knows I'm thinking about him when I wake up and before I go to sleep.

4) Talk dirty to each other.
Well, I think we all know about this one so I don't need to go into to much detail on this one!

5) Avoid dangerous situations.
If going out with your friends to a nightclub or even drinking its always best to tell your partner, at least that you are going out just so he knows if you start sending drunk messages or anything you know you didn't mean to say. Or just let them know you're doing okay and when your home safe and then speak to them in the next morning to avoid any arguments you may have.

6) Do things together.
I and Joey play our online games together which also gives us another chance to speak to each other and spend some time together.

7) Do similar things.
Like I said above we both love playing our games so we do that a lot. But we also recommend TV shows we have been watching.

8) Visit each other.
Always plan to visit each other which we have both been doing and like I said above am moving over to be with him. And finally be able to marry him.

9) Set a goal together.
Both sit down and talk about goals you both want to do and set them and plan a date you would like them to be done by.

10) Enjoy your alone time and your time with your family and friends.
Spending time alone is so important not only is it that but is also the perfect time to relax and do something you love. Also spend time with your friends and family who make you happy spending time with them is so important. Because your friends and family will always be there for you no matter what happens.

I really hope this post has helped you in any way. If your in a current long distance relationship then please comment below and let me know what you're doing to keep you busy and what your goals are for each other I would love to know what you both have planned for your feature or if you wish to share any more information.

Thank you so much for reading.

Much Love
